2/16 My Monologues & Musings : 'Blessed are the merciful ..'(Mt 5)

2/16 My Monologues & Musings :  ‘Blessed are the Merciful ..’ (Mt.5)

Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
When you reminded us that the merciful are blessed you did invite us to an entirely different perspective.
Often it is just against my selfish, macho mentality of a male to be merciful!
Often I excuse myself to be merciful to my fellow humans by telling myself:
Being merciful is a sign of weakness and not of strength!
You remind me to be merciful means to be like the Heavenly Father who is Merciful!
Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
You have been very merciful with me!
Thank you, Jesus, for being merciful with me, not once, but ‘seven times seventy times seven times’, right, Lord?
Thank you, Lord!
Blessed Art Thou, Oh, Lord!

Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
I often delude myself:
To be effective one should be tough and not to show any mercy.
I know:  it is only a pretext to justify my selfishness.

Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
Though I am reluctant to be merciful,
I do always want mercy from others!
I want others to be merciful with me even when I don't deserve it!
How ironic is my thinking and behavior!

Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
I want to keep on trying to be merciful to my fellow humans!
As I step into the new year which you have gifted me with:
I want to keep fighting my reluctance to be merciful.
I want to be merciful to my fellow humans!
As you continue to be merciful to me!

Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
I thank you for Your:
Unsolicited gift of life for me!
Uncountable blessings for me!
Unlimited Patience with me!
Untold Forgiveness for me!
Unflinching faith in me!
Unfailing Hope in me!
Unconditional Love of me!
Amen

Dear Reader,
These Reflections are neither pure scientific exegesis nor are they any highly theological explanations. They are a part of my journaling of the Prodigal Priest in me as I struggle to return to the Home of our Heavenly Father. As I keep holding you in my prayers and I request you to include me in yours.
