41 My Monologues on Mothers Day

Mothers Day once more!
Opening the floodgates of memories,
Memories hazy, memories clear,
Memories sweet, memories savor,
Memories joyful, memories sorrowful,
Memories of success, memories of failures,
Memories hurtful, memories hale.

Oh, my Mother,
Nearly seventy years ago,
You and your Spouse cooperated with the Creator,
And you conceived me,
And thus you both did become my parents,
And I, your baby, did come into being.
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
For nine plus months,
You treasured me within yourself,
You kept praying for a baby boy,
You did breath for me,
You did eat for me, you did drink for me,
You did take me along wherever you went.
You guarded me as the apple of your eye.
Thank you, Mother!

Oh,  my Mother,
Though you were sick during the confinement,
Though you were physically inconvenienced much,
Though you were badly ailing,
Though, you had aches and pains,
You did take real good care of me.
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
You in pain and with pangs,
You were anxious over my safety,
You kept praying for a safe delivery,
Assisted by your own mother, by the midwife,
You gave me birth in a tiny room in our ancestral homestead,
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
As you and your Spouse had been praying,
All through your confinement,
For a healthy baby son,
You both were thrilled to have me as your son,
You were grateful to Lord for granting your wish.
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
Though very sick even after delivering me,
You cradled and cuddled me.
You lovingly nursed me,
You caringly nurtured me.
You dreamed of me growing up!
Thank you, Mother!

Oh  my Mother,
Though you became severely sick,
And were hospitalized postpartum,
Though you were pining away in pain,
You kept on inquiring about my well being.
So recalls your Spouse and my Father!
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
When it was clear to you,
That soon you will have to leave this world,
And as you said Goodbye to all, especially
To your Spouse, my Father, your daughter, my elder sister,
And to me, your baby boy,
You kept on praying for me, Thank you,Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
To your parents, siblings, and in-laws,
You kept on requesting to take care of me,
that I am safe and sound.
You prayed hard as I had all sorts of infections.
So recalls your Spouse and my Father!
Thank you, Mother!

Oh, my Mother,
You and me, the mother and son,
We were together just for forty one days!
We never had enough of each other,
And we will never have!
And on the forty second day, on a Fourth October,
A Saturday evening, you flew away to your Creator!

Oh, my Mother,
As you were ready to fly away,
You entrusted me, your baby son
To your own Mother who was there by your side.
It was sad, it was sombre,
There was total gloom in tiny hospital room.
So tearfully recalls your Spouse, my Father!

Oh,  my Mother,
You flew away to a place,
Where there is no pain,
Where there is no sickness,
Where there is just pure Peace
Where there is sheer Joy!
Where there is always blissful Life and Light!

Oh, my Mother,
My Father and your Spouse was totally shaken,
Severely shattered, terribly sad, visibly distraught,
As an adolescent boy and as a young priest,
Whenever I tried to ask him about you,
He used to choke as he spoke of you.
As he loved you dearly, he missed you terribly.

Oh, my Mother,
You sacrificed your life for me, didn't You?
As you accepted the the inevitability of your death,
You were anguished over me and over my survival.
But you did the best for me by entrusting myself to your Mother.
You Mother loved me as her youngest son, she loved me much.
And she lived long enough to see me priest!

Oh,  my Mother,
Your mother used to tell me,
You wanted to be a nun, did you?
But your own father opposed it.
And brought you home from the boarding school
With your studies uncompleted,
He got you married at eighteen!

Oh, my Mother,
Thank you for being my mother.
I know you are up in heaven,
And you continue loving me.
Now that you and your Spouse, my Father.
Are together in heaven, you are happier.
I am happy for you!

Oh, my Mother,
I want to keep trying to be a better son and priest,
I want to keep striving to be a son and priest you are proud of,
I want to to keep working on accepting suffering as you did,
I want to keep struggling to be caring for others as you did.
I want to keep hoping to be together with you both in heaven
Thank you, Mother for continuing to inspire me!

Oh,  dear Jesus,
May all mothers find strength and hope in you like your Mother!
May all mothers be healthy and happy like your  Mother!
May all mothers be loving and caring like your Mother!
May all mothers help their children to grow as did your Mother!
May all mothers be patiently resilient like your Mother!
May all mothers enjoy love from their children like your Mother!

Jesus,  My Lord and My God,
I want to spend some time:
In silence,
In your presence!
Thinking of my mother,
Thanking you for gifting her as my Mother,
Praying no Expectant mother be ever sick and ailing!
Praying no mother ever die leaving their infant babes behind,
And entrusting all mothers to your Mother!
Amen!

PS
Dear Reader,
These Reflections are neither pure scientific exegesis nor are they any highly theological explanations. They are my devotional meditations mainly meant for my personal renewal and spiritual growth. They are a part of my, 'Prodigal Priest's' journaling on my Pilgrimage to the Home of our Heavenly Father. You are welcome to share them.
Dear Reader, I keep holding you in my prayers and I request you to include me in yours.

I plan on uploading a Reflection each on 7th, 14th, 21st, and on the 28th of every month.
Thank you!
