35/16 My Monologues & Musings : “they had argued about who was the greatest.”
( Mk 9: 33-37)
They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. 35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

Dear Jesus,
Whenever I think of the way you dealt with your disciples I am amazed!
Though imperfect in many ways,
You had handpicked them, Didn't You?
Though they didn't measure up to your discipleship,
You gave them ample enough time to grow up, Didn’t You?
Though they argued among themselves who is greater and who is greatest,
You didn't give up on them, Did You?
Though they couldn't cast out demons as you had instructed to do so,
You did not dismiss them, Did You?
Though they couldn't grasp your teachings about the Father,
You patiently waited for them to grow, Didn’t You?
Though they betrayed you, disowned you, and deserted you, especially during the last days, you continued to love them,
Didn’t You?
Though they didn't believe the news about your own Resurrection, You explained to them again again until they believed, Right?
Dear Jesus,
You loved them with an everlasting love!
Now I get a glimpse of what it means to have an Unconditional Love for someone!
It’s not easy to love some one :
Who disappoints,
Who repeatedly disappoints,
Who boasts never to abandon,
Yet abandons in quick succession,
Who is very slow to grasp and grow up,
Right, Jesus?
Dear Jesus,
Your Unconditional Love for the unworthy and for the underserved is not just for an exclusive club of your disciples,
But it is for everyone of us!
Thank you , Jesus!
Though i am far worse than your disciples in disappointing you over and again
You haven’t stopped loving me unconditionally, right?
Dear Jesus,
When it comes to my to turn to love unconditionally,
It is very very difficult even to show tolerance, leave alone, to love unconditionally!
To love someone:
Who disappoints me repeatedly,
Who backstabs me deliberately,
Who opposes me vehemently,
Who treats me very ungratefully,
Who spreads lies about me frequently,
Who blocks my chances cunningly,
Who cheats on me purposely,
It difficult for me to love such a person!
Dear Jesus,
Even though I am advanced in age ,
I have yet to grow in spirit and wisdom!
Even though I continue to enjoy your unconditional love,
It is very difficult for me to love unconditionally!
I want to get unconditional love for myself!
But I can't give the same to others!
That's a good part of me, Lord!
Dear Jesus,
I do want to keep on trying to love unconditionally.
I shall keep on trying until I am able to love unconditionally!
Oh, Jesus, My Lord and My God,
I thank You,
I thank the Father,
I thank the Spirit.
For Your Unsolicited Gift of Life for me!
For Your Uncountable Blessings for me!
For Your Unlimited Patience with me!
For Your Untold Forgiveness for me!
For Your Unflinching faith in me!
For Your Unfailing Hope in me!
For Your Unconditional Love of me!
Amen

These Reflections are neither pure scientific exegesis nor are they any highly theological explanations. They are a sort of my personal and devotional musings and monologues and a part of the journaling of the Prodigal Priest in me as I struggle to return to the Home of our Heavenly Father. As I keep holding you in my prayers and I request you to do the same for me.
Thank you!
